Meet the Team

Alex Colesby
Logistics Assistant

I have been with R&C Williams for 6 months now and I am loving my time here. I came into the industry from a completely different background of trade counter sales so everything is new to me, but it is very exciting.

On a day to day basis I get involved with as much as I can in order to broaden my knowledge of the industry and further my understanding of how things work. My tasks vary greatly and could include doing anything from the management meeting minutes to ordering materials for ongoing jobs. This is brilliant for me in regards to learning a variety of skills and allows me to identify what I am good at and where I think I can progress within the company.

If I could meet any historical figure it would have to be Winston Churchill. To get an insight into how he felt and his thoughts whilst leading the country during one of its darkest hours would be fascinating. He was an excellent example of how to stand up in the face of adversity and tackle challenges head on with courage and bravery whilst under huge pressure. Beers on me!

Arron Roberts
Contracts Manager

Started here in 2005 as a Technician. Over the next 14 years progressed through roles to become a Contracts Manager overseeing projects from enquiry through to invoice and completion. Programming, Health and Safety and Cost are key to our roles as Contracts Managers. Since 2018 I have been the companies’ Mental Health first aid representative which we have now expanded to include workforce representatives.

Historical figure - Winston Churchill

Dale Tiller
Contracts Manager

Starting off my career as a Mechanical Engineer I achieved an advanced apprenticeship while working after leaving school. I wanted to further my knowledge at University and change my career path slightly. I studied Civil Engineering at University for 4 years spending a year in Germany achieving my degree with honours. While going through the final stages of my degree I obtained a job at R&C Williams as a Technician progressing to a Site Manager and now Contracts Manager.

My main roles as a Contracts Manager vary day by day and there are always challenges to overcome. I manage contracts from pricing our client’s designs, to programming the works, overseeing all plant, labour, materials and subcontractors which includes all aspects of Health and Safety and finally all invoicing and accounts. This sort of role has seen me run individual contracts worth over 2 million pound along with the running of a variety of other contracts simultaneously. I am also involved in the companies’ quality systems which we recently achieved the ISO44001 standard.

My development and progress with R&C has be excellent so far and I intend to be a valuable asset growing with the company years to come.

If I could meet a historical figure it would have to be …. Bob Marley. Who wouldn’t want to meet Bob?!

Duncan Braybrooke

I would choose to meet Marie Curie – she was a woman who changed the world and whose work is still so influential in the world today – whether that’s dementia, cancer, motor neurone disease, heart failure, Parkinson’s disease or any other illness, she created a legacy that still lives on and helps so many people. She was also the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and only woman to win twice.

Nigel Drew

I joined R&C Williams in 1982 as Contracts Manager assisting brothers Ron & Charlie with a growing and progressive company. In 1984 I supervised the move from Erdington to our ‘Iconic’ H.Q. at Spaghetti Junction. The company continued to grow and I was offered a Directorship in 1992. In 1994 we set up Highway Traffic Management Ltd with Keith Baldwin. In 2002 I was made Managing Director with Ron retiring. The company continued to grow and working for most Local Authorities, Highways Agency, British Waterways, Severn Trent Water and many others located across the Midlands.

In 2013 I agreed a company purchase from Charlie and finalised outright purchase in 2016. The company have achieved many highlights throughout this period including ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 44001 and ROSPA Gold. We’re also members of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association where I’ll become their chairman this year, as well as Constructionline Gold and founding member of The Collaborative Learning Circle. In 2017 the company celebrated 60 years of trading, we held a series of events and raised over £12,000 for the Midlands Air Ambulance to commemorate the fantastic milestone reached.

I would choose to host a dinner party with the following historical figures….
Jesus Christ
Genghis Khan
Sir Winston Churchill
David Bowie
Billy Connolly
Marilyn Monroe
……..interesting conversation there!?

Sam Drew
Contracts Manager

I have been employed by R&C Williams for approaching 4 years now after deciding to have a career change from an electrical foreman to the Civil Engineering industry as the industry has always been of interest to me. I was given the opportunity by R&C Williams to re-train at Wolverhampton University on a Civil Engineering HNC course and took this opportunity with both hands and graduated from the course in 2017.

My role at R&C Williams has progressively moved on over the short time of being here, I now have the role of Contracts Manager which on a day to day basis has all different types of challenges. My main roles include overseeing jobs and managing labour, plant and material to suit the jobs needs. I carry out all aspects of overseeing jobs from pricing to running the job and then eventually invoicing. I also oversee our transport department, in this part of my role I ensure that our designated Transport Manager is keeping up with the needs of his role and ensuring that we have a safe, clean and well maintained transport fleet.

If I could meet any historical figure it would be Thomas Edison.

Samantha Williams
Company Accountant

I have worked at R&C Williams Limited for 18 and a half years (since 2000). Originally I was the auditor for the Company, so I had an insight of what the Company was all about, and of course the lovely people that worked here, so when I was offered the job of Company Accountant, I jumped at it!! My role here is to look after the Financial side of the Company along with my lovely team.

If I could choose an historical figure to meet it would be Emily Davison the Suffragette. I would like to ask her whether she actually meant to meet with her demise or whether she was just trying to protest when she ran out in front of the King’s horse at the Epsom Derby!

Sue Clements

I started working for R&C in the Year 2000 - seems such a long time ago but not quite last Century! How time has flown and the Company grown!

I’m the first person you meet when you arrive at R&C. I’m the one who gets your coffees and your toast and more importantly, answers the phone. I also undertake general admin work.
